AWAL has signed a deal with Facebook which means that, in a similar way to YouTube, any music used in User Generated Content videos will be monetized for you. This deal will cover Facebook, Instagram, Oculus, and in some cases Facebook Messenger.
Why is it happening?
Up until now, your music could be used in User Generation Content videos on Facebook for anyone to listen to or stream, and you wouldn’t receive any money for these streams. Alternatively, Facebook users could have been blocked from being able to use music in User Generated Content videos altogether.
This is an exciting new project between AWAL and Facebook and could prove over time to be a valuable income stream for our Clients.
The intention is not for Facebook to be treated as another digital music streaming service, and there are steps being put in place to prevent that from happening.
What should I do now?
Please take the time to read all articles in this section, however, most importantly, please read our article on Whitelisting your pages. You'll need to Whitelist your Facebook and Instagram pages in order to post videos containing your music without restrictions, and without the videos being blocked.
