We advise allowing at least four weeks lead time – that means having your release successfully uploaded to AWAL four weeks before you’d like it to be delivered to all digital services. Our turnaround times are usually much quicker than this, however, there are a variety of reasons we recommend four weeks:
We aim to provide you with the best possible service, including time to QA each product - ensuring it is up to AWAL standard for delivery to all services. This means adhering to all service specifications for cover art, proper metadata tagging, audio quality and much more.
Our lead time also allows enough time for delivery to all possible services (for a full list please see Digital Services We Deliver To). Each digital service has their own preferred lead time for getting a release live, some take a few working days while others can take several weeks. There will also be periods of time when our turnaround times slow down due to high volumes of submissions.
Providing four weeks lead time will ensure you’ll never miss your release date, even during busy periods or in the event of issues with the release.
If you plan to incorporate a pre-order period, this needs to be in addition to the 4-week lead time.
If you want your release to go live on May 1st, but plan for a week-long pre-order period beginning on April 24th, you should have successfully uploaded your release by March 27th.
