The UPC (Universal Product Code) is a 12-13 digit code specific to each version and format of an album/EP/Single. Also referred to as an EAN (European Article Number), your UPC is located in the Catalogue section of your AWAL Portal, under the Summary tab.
To find your release’s UPC, navigate to your Catalogue tab and click on the relevant release title (in red) under the Digital Distribution Summary module. Your UPC will then display towards the top of the page.
It’s important to note that each version of a release should have it’s own unique UPC. For example, physical products should have a different code to the digital version, a deluxe version has its own code, and so on.
If your release already has a UPC assigned, you can enter it in Step 4 of the Uploader. If your release does not have a UPC yet and you need one assigned, please leave the UPC field blank in the Uploader. We will assign a UPC to your releases free of charge.
Note: The AWAL Uploader only accepts 13-digit UPC codes so if your code is 12 digits, you should add a leading zero when uploading.
Check out our Guide to Product Identification Codes to learn more about the other two primary product codes associated with your release.
