This article covers some of the key questions you may have about the AWAL App. If you have feedback about the app, please send it to firstname.lastname@example.org. Note that this email address is only used to accept feedback, and if you need support you’ll need to head to the Portal > Contact Us.
What is the difference between the AWAL App and the AWAL Portal?
The AWAL Portal is a desktop tool that you’ll use to get up and running on AWAL. This will be your primary tool for activities including:
- Uploading your music for distribution
- Tracking delivery status for all digital services
- Accessing usage data for key digital services
- Accessing detailed earnings info and reports
- Managing your account
The AWAL App is a native mobile app available for iPhone and Android, designed to help you get the most out of streaming by giving you convenient access to usage data, and much more. The app provides you with data that you won’t find on the Portal, including:
- Playlist details and notifications
- Most popular tracks / artists
- Detailed demographic data about your listeners
- AWAL Insights <LINK>
The AWAL App is the best way to see and compare streaming data across Apple Music and Spotify, and access usage data on the go.
Why doesn’t the royalties number in the AWAL App match the Portal?
The number shown in the app is the total amount of royalties collected for your current statement period. This amount includes royalties from all revenue sources but does not include any outstanding advances. On the Portal, you can get a more detailed earnings breakdown which outlines outstanding advances and more.
How do I log into the app?
You can log into the AWAL App using the same username and password that you use for the Portal.
What are AWAL Insights?
AWAL Insights are designed to provide you with an additional level of understanding of your data. AWAL Insights process huge amounts of data in the background to pull out interesting and unexpected facts about your performance. You’ll find AWAL Insights throughout the app, covering a wide range of topics such as where your most engaged listeners are located, what is driving your increased streaming activity, or what your fastest-growing track is. AWAL Insights update daily, so keep checking the app to see what’s most important.
Why can’t I find one of my tracks in the app?
If you don’t see your track listed in the app it means that we haven’t received any streaming data for Apple Music or Spotify just yet. So, for new tracks, it may take 48 hours before we have any data to display. If it’s an old track and you’ve just downloaded the app, then it’s most likely due to the track not having had any streams on either Spotify or Apple Music in the past seven days. Check back once streaming activity increases.
How far back does the all-time view on the Streaming History graph go?
We currently show data as far back as April 2015 on Spotify and April 2016 on Apple Music.
How do I enable push notifications?
You can enable push notifications by heading to More > Settings > Push Notifications. Be sure to turn them on if you want playlist notifications.
How do I enable Touch ID?
You can enable TouchID by heading to More > Settings > Touch ID, and turning it on. This will allow you to log in with your fingerprint instead of your username and password.
How do I switch to a different account?
To switch to a different account, head to More > Profile > and select the desired account
How do I view a different digital service or time period?
The AWAL App allows you to filter by digital service provider, or by time period. You can change the filter on any Artist Detail or Track Detail page by hitting the Filter icon at the top right of the screen.
How do I log out of the app?
To log out of the AWAL App head to More > Profile > Log Out
Why am I getting an error message about ‘live data’ on the login screen?
You need to have had at least one stream on either Apple Music or Spotify in the last seven days to be able to log into the AWAL App. This is because the app needs live data to process. You’ll be able to log in once your activity increases.
How long does it take for streams to show up in the app?
The length of time it takes for streams to show up on the AWAL App varies as it depends on when we receive the data files from Spotify and Apple Music. Typically, we receive this data within 24 hours.
Why can I only see Apple Music & Spotify data in the app?
The AWAL App was launched with Spotify and Apple Music, to begin with because they are the largest digital services. We plan to add more digital services in the near future.
Why is there no artwork for my artist?
The app displays the artwork that is shown on the artist profile page within Spotify. If you do not yet have an artist photo on Spotify, then you won’t have a photo on the AWAL App.

My track has been added to a playlist, but I can’t find the playlist on the app.
The app currently only displays the top five playlists for each artist and track. If the number of streams coming from a playlist isn’t enough to make it into your top five for that artist/track, then it won’t be displayed within the app.
I know my track has been added to a playlist but I didn’t receive a notification about it?
We currently only send notifications for priority Spotify playlists, which are defined as either:
- Featured in the Browse section in any country in the last 30 days
- Has over 5k followers
