AWAL delivers the music we represent to Facebook, where it is then included in their database of recordings/works. Facebook will assess where they have the right to use the recordings for specific uses granted under our deal with them. Availability is also contingent on them having all music publishing rights cleared.
Facebook is scanning user-uploaded videos to determine if there are any restrictions. If Facebook do not have all the necessary rights to an identified track then that specific video may not be uploaded with the sound on.
There are a range of products that Facebook may launch over time. We expect these to be differentiated products that are focused on individuals using the power of music in their social connections across the various Facebook products, including Instagram, Messenger, and Oculus.
One example is the Instagram Stories Music Stickers, where Instagram has made available an Audio Library of cleared music that could be used for up to 15 second clips as part of video/images that are uploaded to Instagram user Stories.
