Apple Digital Masters, formerly known as Mastered for iTunes or MFiT, allows for artists’ masters to be delivered to Apple Music and iTunes with the highest quality audio.
These tracks are specifically mastered for optimal listening on iTunes/Apple Music and iOS devices. They are always 24-bit, which is a higher resolution than standard 16-bit digital audio masters.
Follow these steps to deliver an Apple Digital Masters product:
1. Upload your product as normal but add a 24-bit audio file at a sampling rate of either 44.1, 48 or 96 kHz.
2. Enter the mastering house, engineer name and email address in the "Additional Comments" text box located in the Uploader Step "Review Your Release". Please review to ensure the details are entered incorrectly, otherwise delivery will fail.
Note: Please double check with your engineer or mastering house to confirm they're approved as an Apple Digital Master provider before submitting your release for delivery. Otherwise, we are only able to deliver as standard audio instead of Apple Digital Master.
3. Our team will check your submitted details against the list of approved Apple Digital Masters providers to verify.
4. Once confirmed, we will then create an Apple Digital Masters version of the product for iTunes/Apple Music and send a standard version to all other services. Our system will convert the 24-bit files to 16-bit for DSPs that require this quality.
