There are four important types of promotional links that may be associated with your release: pre-orders, pre-adds, pre-saves, and smart links:
- Pre-order links are only available on ‘download’ services, such as iTunes and Amazon, and will be the only links you'll need to set up during the upload process. To set a pre-order date for your product, please select the ‘Custom’ release plan on step 6 of the Uploader. Setting up these pre-order links allow your fans to pre-purchase your release and have it automatically load in their libraries on release day.
- Pre-saves are links which allow your audience to ‘save’ your upcoming release so the track, album, or EP is automatically added to their library and queue on release day. You can generate pre-saves through services like Feature.FM or Linkfire as soon as your release is delivered to the digital services. Learn more about pre-saves here.
- Pre-adds are similar to ‘pre-saves’ but are available only on Apple Music currently. Your release will automatically have the ‘pre-add’ button associated if there is a pre-order live as well as at least 1 Instant Gratification Track.
- Smart links are helpful digital marketing tools to use when promoting a release after release date. Store links to your release are neatly displayed on a landing page in one consolidated list, making it easy for fans to find your music on every major music platform.
